Restore Your Smile with Dental Crowns & Bridges

White haired woman smilingWhen a tooth is so decayed or injured that a traditional filling just won’t provide enough help, Dr. Fan is likely to suggest a dental crown to save the tooth. The restoration fits snugly over the affected tooth, restoring strength and making it look like a whole tooth again. You and Dr. Fan will discuss the materials available for dental crowns — all-ceramic, porcelain fused-to-metal, or gold — and determine which is best for you.

Dental Crowns

To place the crown, Dr. Fan cleans your tooth and reshapes it to make room for the new restoration. Impressions are taken for the creation of your custom crown, and Dr. Fan places a temporary crown on the prepared tooth. We work with a trusted lab to guarantee you receive an excellent restoration. Return to our office a week or two later for final adjustments and the placement of your new crown.

Dr. Fan and our staff welcome patients of all ages and stages of life. Contact our office to discuss the need for a dental crown at The Dental Centre. We warmly welcome residents from all across Austin!

Fixed Bridges

Dental crowns repair damaged teeth — but if you have lost one or more teeth, our team can create a fixed bridge to complete your smile once again. This restoration fills the gap left by missing teeth while also preventing the surrounding teeth from moving around out of place. A dental bridge can correct dental misalignments and improve the way you chew and speak. It adds volume for a more youthful facial appearance, too.

A dental bridge is a set of prosthetic teeth secured in the smile with two sturdy crowns that are placed on each side of the gap. The fixed bridge is permanently attached into the mouth, and consists of three parts: the false teeth that fill in the gap, and two abutment crowns on either side. There are a few different methods for replacing multiple missing teeth, and the one we suggest depends on the health of the surrounding teeth and where in the smile the gap is located. For eligible patients, dental implants provide a sturdy, long-lasting replacement. Additionally, if many teeth are missing, we may recommend a removable partial denture. When cared for properly, a fixed bridge can function properly for over a decade.

If you are missing one or more teeth or have sustained severe damage to your smile, please don’t hesitate to call our Austin dental practice. We warmly welcome patients from Manchaca, Buda, and Bluff Springs. We will be happy to discuss the options and schedule your evaluation.
