Restorative Dentistry for an Amazing Smile in South Austin
Dr. Fan will provide a comprehensive treatment plan that is specifically tailored for you. The treatment plan can also be organized in phases in order to meet your dental needs and finances.
Great restorative dental care begins with a gentle and experienced doctor, and Austin restorative dentist Dr. Fan understands every patient is different. He spends plenty of time with each patient and develops treatment plans that are tailored specifically to your dental needs. In addition, Dr. Fan chooses solid, tooth-colored materials to create restorations that match your natural smile and stand the test of time.
Patients who need more extensive repair, such as fillings, crowns, dental implants, or dentures, will appreciate our conservative and esthetic approach. For more than 30 years, Dr. Fan has used his skill and artistic vision to rebuild compromised teeth and re-establish optimal dental health. Restorative Dentistry can also enhance your confidence by giving you a whole and beautiful smile.
When a tooth has become so damaged that a dental filling is not enough to effectively address it, dental crowns can help you save that tooth and prevent the need for an extraction. These custom-made restorations are made from durable and long-lasting materials, so you can eat the foods you enjoy, smile with confidence, and know that your damaged tooth is protected from harmful bacteria and infection. Receiving a dental crown at Dr. Fan’s office takes just two appointments to complete.
Tooth loss affects millions of people every day, making it difficult to consume the foods they want and show their smile. Unfortunately, it also affects the way their bite comes together and even causes neighboring teeth to shift out of place. With a natural-looking dental bridge, you can fill the gap in your smile and make chewing your favorite foods simple once again. Our office works with expert dental labs to create a bridge that blends in with your smile for many years to come.
Root Canal Therapy
If you need a root canal, don’t panic. Root canal therapy, or endodontic treatment, is often the last option we have before tooth extraction is necessary — and it’s always good news when we can save your natural tooth. With modern anesthesia, sedation, and Dr. Fan’s expert approach, there’s nothing to dread from a root canal.
Are you missing all the teeth in your arch or your entire mouth? Just because you suffer from major tooth loss doesn’t mean you should have to settle. At The Dental Centre, Dr. Fan can provide a denture that fits your mouth exactly. With detailed customizations and natural-looking materials, you’re sure to get a full denture that looks more lifelike than ever before! As you get used to your new denture, our team will provide advice and support however we can.
For those who have too many missing teeth for a dental bridge to solve alone, but still have teeth on opposite sides of their mouth, partial dentures are likely the best option for you. This lifelike restoration is kept in place through a series of metal clasps that wrap around existing teeth. Having an incomplete smile can affect your ability to speak certain words and keep a balanced diet, but partial dentures help you mitigate these issues before they become significant.
If you currently have a cavity or if you don’t like the idea of having old gray dental work on your teeth, it’s time to learn about tooth-colored fillings. Made out of composite resin — a tooth-colored, plastic mixture — the material can be used to restore teeth without affecting the appearance of the smile. This method offers a number of advantages compared to traditional silver, or amalgam, fillings.
The composite resin used for tooth-colored fillings can be blended and mixed until we find the shade that matches your natural teeth perfectly. At the end of the treatment, no one will know you’ve had a filling — except for you, Dr. Fan, and our team. The bond formed between the tooth and the composite material actually strengthens the affected tooth, renewing up to 85% of its original strength. The material is also less sensitive to changes in temperature than amalgam.
Medium and small composite resins can last for as long as silver amalgam fillings. And because they require less removal of the healthy tooth structure, more of your natural smile stays intact. By helping to maintain your smile for a lifetime to come, we provide more conservative dentistry — and that’s always a good thing.
If you have a new cavity or would like to discuss the need for filling replacement, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with Dr. Fan’s office!
As proponents of conservative dentistry, we try to save your natural teeth whenever possible. But if there comes a time that a tooth needs to come out for your oral and overall wellbeing, Dr. Fan performs comfortable extractions at The Dental Centre. Crowded teeth may need to come out before orthodontic treatment can be performed. Severely decayed or damaged teeth may need to be removed to protect the rest of your smile.
If the tooth can be taken out in a single piece, we will perform what’s known as a simple extraction. The method requires no scalpel or stitches, and recovery is quick. For impacted, broken, or infected teeth, a surgical extraction may be necessary. Most wisdom teeth removals are performed surgically. With this method, Dr. Fan removes the tooth in multiple pieces. Recovery is longer following a surgical extraction.
Wisdom Tooth Extractions
Not everyone has a set of wisdom teeth, or the third molars that often emerge in late adolescence or early adulthood. People who do have these extra teeth, though, will likely need to have them extracted. With digital x-rays, Dr. Fan will examine the location of the wisdom teeth and determine the best course of action. If extraction is recommended, we perform most wisdom teeth removals from our comfortable Austin, Texas dental practice.

Oral Conscious Sedation
Every year, patients all over the world put off or avoid important dental care due to their anxiety. For some, that anxiety is minimal but still strong enough to make regular visits seem like an inconvenience. For others, their nerves and fear can be crippling.
If you struggle with dental anxiety, we understand — and we want to help. Using a compassionate service like oral conscious sedation, our sedation dentist can help patients from Austin, Buda, Manchaca, Bluff Springs, and beyond overcome anxiety to get essential care.
Oral conscious sedation is a popular form of sedation dentistry that uses a commonly prescribed pill to help patients enter a relaxed, anxiety-free state. One of the major benefits of this method is that you can get more work done in a single visit, which alone can be enough to start putting patients at ease.
